Speaker Update Beverly Nolan
Beverley Nolan is a practitioner of yoga, a somatic movement therapist and educator, and bodyworker.
She runs a therapeutic practice in Cambridge for infants, children and adults using Integrative Bodywork and Movement Therapy.
Through focused exercises, touch and play, Beverley draws upon the natural unfolding of the developmental movement patterns and primitive reflexes which underlie all areas of learning - movement, psychological, emotional and intellectual.
Update since 2006 Conference
"Since the last Birthlight conference, I continue to be amazed and enriched by the far-reaching nature of working with the early movement patterns and reflexes. I have witnessed many, many positive changes and outcomes in children with movement and co-ordination issues, learning challenges, sensory integration issues, and symptoms of childhood stress.
Apart from the private practice where I work one on one, I have been involved in offering the Infant Movement Development work as Continuing Professional Development modules and workshops for professionals involved in early year's development, play and community settings, dance and performing arts, therapeutic fields, and yoga. The experiential nature of the programmes means that there is a rich source of material not only for professional implementation but also for personal exploration and development."
The developmental patterns are a universal journey of movement that takes each of us on a journey from conception to birth, from babe-in-arms to self-directed toddler. Beverley's work is based on the Body-Mind Centering(R) approach to the patterns which forms part of one of the only ISMETA-approved somatic trainings in the UK, run by the Institute for Integrative Bodywork and Movement Therapy www.ibmt.co.uk
