NURTURING THE ROOTS OF WELLBEING: A FOCUS ON EARLY PREGNANCY AND THE FIRST WEEKS AFTER

Birthlight, a UK charity promoting a holistic approach to pregnancy, birth and babyhood with original interactive yoga-based practices, launches a conference in London with a focus on early nurture.

‘Because our technological society does so much to disturb the period of dependence on the mother in so many different ways we now urgently need a new awareness, a new way of looking at health and new kinds of research’. Michel Odent: Primal Health, a Blueprint for our Survival.

Early pregnancy and the period following childbirth are the most neglected times in global maternity care. Yet, there is a rapidly growing range of scientific evidence showing the crucial importance of these times to set sound foundations for the healthy development of babies, with long term implications for society.

Bringing outstanding scientists, visionaries and practitioners together, the conference will present research findings and explore avenues for an early prevention of dysfunctions and for promoting ‘infant joy’ more widely.

The programme includes both main speaker presentations and hands on workshops. ‘Michel Odent, Naomi Stadlen, Vivette Glover, Simon House and Françoise Barbira Freedman voice possibilities for making the transition to parenthood a more positive experience in society at large. Various workshops complement these inspiring presentations and introduce essential techniques to put nurture into practice.
